The Week Junior Book Awards sponsored by Bookily from National Book Tokens celebrate the brilliant world of children’s books and the talented people who create them. It honours the authors, illustrators and publishers who inspire children to read for pleasure. The emphasis is on original ideas, outstanding illustration and smart storytelling, as well as new and diverse talent. For further information, please take a look at the entry guide.
Enter the awards
We're inviting entries from UK publishers across our nine categories. To enter, you must register your account by setting up a username and password. Once you have registered, simply complete the entry form (entries open 6 March 2023). Your submission should cover the period from 1 January 2022 to 28 February 2023.
Once you have submitted your entry, please send 8 copies of your nominated title, clearly marked with the category you have entered to:

If you are shortlisted
Publishers of shortlisted entries agree to make a contribution of £1,950* + VAT for promotional activity. You'll be notified confidentially by email by 28 April 2023 and confirmation of acceptance must be received by 12 May 2023. The fee can be paid via the direct link provided.
If you are shortlisted, please send an additional 5 copies of your submitted title, clearly marked with the category for which the book is shortlisted, to:

You will be featured in our large-scale marketing campaign, as well as have the opportunity to use The Week Junior Book Awards Shortlisted sticker in your marketing for the ultimate brand endorsement. - Shortlisted authors will be eligible to attend and promote their book at The Week Junior Book Festival taking place in October 2023.
The Shortlist will be announced to the general public in The Week Junior and The Bookseller on 26 May.

Publishers wishing to limit the number of titles shortlisted should contact the organisers in advance. Publishers will be notified in advance of the shortlist’s publication.
*For shortlisted publishers with fewer than 10 employees the contribution will be reduced to zero
Winners
All winners will be announced at The Week Junior Book Awards ceremony in the evening of 2 October 2023. As a winner, you'll automatically be eligible to use The Week Junior Book Awards Winners sticker in your book promotion, including on your cover. We will also promote our winners in a host of follow-up promotions. Take a look below for a detailed view of the promotion, worth thousands of pounds in PR value.
- All winners will be entitled to use the logo in their book promotion, including on the cover of their books, giving their winning title huge endorsement from The Week Junior brand
- Winners will feature in The Week Junior magazine in a special edition, dedicated to winning titles
- Winners will feature across The Week Junior and The Bookseller social media channels
- Winners will feature on The Bookseller's website and The Week Junior Book Awards website, with links for consumers to buy
- Winners will be eligible to attend and promote their book at The Week Junior Book Festival taking place during the October half term, 2023.
- All winners will receive a trophy on the night of the event
