As well as enjoying performances on the main stage, your ticket includes your choice of an interactive and immersive workshop*. Embark on a journey of learning, exploration, and fun! Simply select the one workshop you'd like to attend at the check out. Workshops will last between 45 minutes and one hour.

Please note that you must book a ticket as an adult if you are attending with your child.

Illustrations workshop with Rob Biddulph

Join award-winning author and illustrator and The Week Junior favourite Rob Biddulph in this fun-packed workshop for all the family. In a session fizzing with laughs, creativity and of course drawing, Rob will bring to life his award-winning picture books. And have your pencils at the ready as everyone will learn to draw one of Rob’s newest characters step-by-step in one of his famous Draw with Rob draw-alongs! Afterwards, meet Rob and get your books signed.

The Spoken Word Workshop with Nikita Gill

Journey back in time with author and poet Nikita Gill for an incredible event and discover the ancient Indian animal fables of the Panchatantra, which have been told and retold for thousands of years! You’ll meet mighty elephants and courageous mice, cunning crocodiles and clever monkeys, talkative tortoises and little lapwing birds – and each one imparts a different message that can inspire you in different ways! Celebrating friendship, cleverness, love and wisdom, this is not a workshop to be missed!

Younger Fiction workshop with Carrie Sellon

Join author Carrie Sellon and learn to create your own stories.  Carrie will teach the children how to write strong, character-based stories with her foolproof Story Pizza method! The workshop will be based around her briefcase full of magical potions.
You’ll create new potions, design magical pizzas and have a go at writing short stories together.

STEM workshop with Zanna Davidson

Izzy the Inventor author, Zanna Davidson invites you on a magical science adventure in this workshop. Zanna will help you come up with your own AMAZING INVENTION! A machine to make something easier maybe – like getting up in the morning or walking a dog? OR you could imagine that like Izzy, you’re in another world, on an adventure. What invention will help you on your way? Maybe a special suit so you can dive deep underwater? Illustrator Elissa Elwick will live draw some of these inventions and she’ll teach you how to draw Izzy’s side kick unicorn. Zanna will end by demonstrating how to make some lovely fizzy slime!

Older Fiction workshop with A.M. Dassu

Wellbeing, Art for the Heart workshop with Xavier Leopold

Discover the joy of expressing your feelings through art in this motivational and interactive workshop for children, based on illustrator and author Xavier Leopold’s creative journal Art for the Heart. Xavier will help you learn how to use art to become more self-aware, understand your feelings, and build confidence. In this fun-filled event, you will be inspired and motivated to love yourself and aim high in the future. Best of all, you’ll get to express yourself through producing your own art from the heart!

Hobbies & Interests workshop- Amazing Infographics: how data can reveal our world in a whole new way with Andrew Pettie

 1.40-2.40pm

This fun and interactive workshop led by authors Andrew Pettie and Valentina D’Efilippo will combine an explanation of why humans are such a visual species, an accessible introduction to what infographics are and how they work, plus a quiz including some of the mind-blowing facts from the book and some visual rounds to show how infographics are all around us! The quiz will be followed by a 20 – 25 mins hands on activity for children to create their own infographic.

Animals & Nature workshop with Jonathan Emmett

Join author Jonathan Emmett for a highly amusing and informative look at how new discoveries have transformed our understanding of T. rex’s appearance since this giant prehistoric predator was first unearthed over a century ago. Then see if you can win a signed copy of the book by taking part in The Latest Evidence Knockout Quiz game. This fun and interactive workshop is not to be missed!

Children’s author, poet and Waterstone’s Children Laureate 2022-24, Joseph Coelho shares his tips, tricks and engaging ways to start writing poetry in this fun and interactive poetry workshop.

Joseph will be on the main stage as well, so this will be a more intimate and interactive session.

Real or Rubbish? workshop with Iszi Lawrence 

 3.20-4.20 

Join Iszi Lawrence, historical fiction author and font of weird-but-true facts for a workshop inspired by The Week Junior Big Book of Knowledge. In this highly interactive workshop you'll take part in a Real or Rubbish quiz, then test your own journalism skills by creating real or rubbish headlines for everyone to vote on. There will be plenty of examples to get everyone thinking and talking.

Debut Author workshop  Shine Bright with G.M.Linton

3.30-4.30

In this workshop G.M. will celebrate the original Windrush generation – of which her parents were part – and their lasting, joyful legacy. She’ll ask you to think about places you would like to travel to and what you would take with them for the journey.  She will talk about some inspiring Black Britons and she will invite children to think about their own family, heritage, and community – all the things that make each of us who we are and able to shine bright, just like Sunshine.
